This solitary large cat is known for its exclusivity - but don't think that just because you can’t see a mountain lion doesn’t mean it can’t see you. Mountain lions - also called pumas - are mostly active at dawn and dusk, hunting for prey which includes deer, rabbits, and other medium to small animals. Mountain lions are extremely territorial and mark their territory by leaving scrapes along the boundaries. Although they tend to keep to themselves, it’s always important to keep an eye out if you are in mountain lion country.
