HOW it Works

1. Check Your Eligibility

If your flight is eligible, you’ll get an email from us (via our upgrade partner, Plusgrade) about 96 hours before departure. This email includes a personalized link to bid or buy an upgrade.

2. Choose Your Upgrade Option
  • Bid for an Upgrade: Place your offer and payment info. You’ll only be charged if your bid is accepted.
  • Instant Upgrade: Pay now and secure your seat upgrade immediately (subject to availability)
3. Get Notified

If your bid is accepted, Plusgrade will confirm your upgrade and update your seat assignment.

4. Automatic Refunds

If an equipment change or disruption prevents your upgrade, you’ll be refunded automatically.

Note: Upgrades apply to all passengers on your reservation (PNR level).

Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Bid For Upgrade
How does Bid For Upgrade work?

There are two ways you can upgrade in this program:

  • You can offer to upgrade your seat by placing a bid via the email that eligible Passengers receive. If your bid is accepted, you will be notified by email before departure.
  • Your flight may have an “Instant Upgrade” option, which allows you to secure a new seat immediately. You'll receive an additional email confirmation if you choose this option. The Instant Upgrade option is available on eligible routes, and the seat selection is non-refundable and non-transferable once successful.
How many Frontier Miles can I earn for this purchase?

Seat upgrades purchased through bidding or Instant Upgrades do not qualify to earn Frontier Miles.

How can I increase my chances of being upgraded?

You should submit the highest offer price you're willing to pay. The acceptance of an upgrade offer depends on several factors, including availability, the number of offers received, and the amount other passengers offer.

My bid has been accepted. What do I need to do now?

There’s nothing more you need to do! Sit back and relax. Your new seat confirmation will be sent to you via email, and your boarding pass will reflect the new seat selection. Mobile boarding passes should be updated automatically. If you printed your boarding pass before your successful bid, re-print it or use the Frontier App to ensure your new seat is reflected.

What if I don’t have a credit card?

A valid credit card is required to make a seat selection bid.

What is the purpose of the strength meter?

The gauge tells you how strong your bid is. The amount of your bid is not the only factor determining whether you will receive the upgrade or blocked seat, but it’s an important component. Bids are selected based on seat availability, the number of bids received, and other factors. There is no guarantee that your bid will be accepted, even if you bid the maximum amount.

Are there any restrictions for seat bidding?

Some reservations may not qualify for seat bidding. Customers with an eligible reservation will receive an invitation based on the reservation details at the time of booking.

When do I pay for my upgrade?

Your credit card is charged only if your offer is accepted. If your bid is successful, we will notify you by email no later than 1 hour before departure.

Can I contact Customer Care to submit my offer?

No, Bid For Upgrade is available online only.

What do I need to review before submitting my bid?

Please review the offer amounts and totals for each segment of your journey and verify that you have entered the correct payment and contact information.

How much should I bid?

The gauge on the offer page can help you determine the strength of your bid. This is only a guide and not a confirmation that your bid will be accepted. For the best chance of success, we encourage you to bid the highest amount you're willing to pay.

Does my bid include taxes?

Yes, your bid includes all taxes, fees, and surcharges (if applicable) for the seat selection.

I deleted my invitation email but would like to make an offer. What should I do?

Enter your booking reference and Last Name in the fields provided in the widget, and follow the directions to make your offer.

Making & Managing Your Bid
How do I make a Bid For Upgrade bid?

After you purchase your reservation and if your flight is eligible, you'll receive an email inviting you to make a bid to upgrade your seat. We’ll email you to confirm that we’ve received your bid. As long as we have not accepted your bid, you may revise or cancel your open bid up to two hours before the scheduled flight departure time. Once we accept your bid, it cannot be modified or canceled.

What happens to my Bid For Upgrade if I modify my booking?

The Bid For Upgrade offer is valid only for the flight for which you originally submitted the offer. If your flight is rebooked at your request, we cannot guarantee that your selected seat will be available.

However, if Frontier Airlines rebooked you on an alternative flight due to flight disruptions after your bid has been accepted, we will do our best to accommodate your seat. If we cannot do so, we'll refund the upgrade amount paid to the original form of payment automatically.

How can I find out the status of my Bid For Upgrade?

The bid request confirmation email will contain a link. Click the link and select the relevant flight to see the status of your request in the top right corner of the display.

What happens to my upgrade if I miss my flight?

The Bid For Upgrade charged amount is non-refundable when successful. If you miss your flight, the bid amount will be forfeited.

What do I do if I need to cancel my offer?

You can cancel your bid at any time up to two hours before the flight’s scheduled departure time, provided Frontier has not yet accepted your bid. To cancel, click on the “Cancel” link in the email you received when you submitted your bid.

How do I select the amount I wish to pay?

Move the slider to select the amount you will bid for each eligible flight shown. You may also use the arrow keys on a keyboard.

Can I pay with two different credit cards?

No, each seat selection on a bid is paid in one transaction using a single credit card.

How do I change the amount offered?

You can change your bid at any time up to two hours before the flight’s scheduled departure time, provided Frontier has not yet accepted your bid. To do so, click on the "Modify" link in the email you received when you submitted your bid.

What do I do if I need to cancel my ticket?

Once accepted, the bid is non-refundable. If you cancel your ticket, the bid amount will be forfeited.

If my flight has more than one segment, do I have to make an offer for each segment?

If you want to bid for a journey with multiple eligible segments, you must make a separate bid for each segment individually. Please pay attention to which segment of your itinerary you're making an offer for.

I need to change the payment type I used to submit my offer. How can I do this?

Once you’ve selected a payment type, you cannot change it. Instead, you must cancel your original bid and make a new one. To make a new bid, click the link in your cancelation email and follow the simple step-by-step process.

I canceled my original bid, but now I want to make a new offer. Can I do this?

Yes, as long as the bidding window hasn't closed. To make a new bid, click the link in your cancelation email and follow the simple step-by-step process.

Does my bid amount include the price of my original fare?

No, the amount you bid goes only towards the seat offer. This is in addition to what you have already paid for your trip.

What if I don’t receive a confirmation email after submitting my request?

Please wait a few hours. Sometimes, the confirmation email takes a bit to generate. Please also check your spam folder.

Is there a time limit on making a bid?

You may revise or cancel your bid at any time up to two hours before the scheduled flight departure time as long as the bid hasn’t been accepted. Once accepted, changes or cancelations are not allowed.

Traveling with Others
Is the amount I bid per person or for my whole group?

Your seat upgrade bid is for everyone on the reservation, but the amount you submit is for each passenger per flight segment. Please pay attention to which flight segment you’re making the bid for. Each segment may be eligible, but it’s not guaranteed.

Can I make an bid to upgrade seats if I travel with a pet in a cabin?

You may bid to upgrade to a Premium Seat, but pets are prohibited in UpFront Plus and Exit Row Seating.

My reservation is for more than one person. If my bid is accepted, will we be seated together?

Adjacent seat assignments are not guaranteed. Your seat will be assigned once your bid is accepted.

Can I make a bid to upgrade only certain passengers on a reservation?

No, seat upgrade bids are made for all passengers on the reservation.

Can I make an offer to upgrade if I'm traveling with children?

If children are on the same reservation as you, they’ll be included in the bid since bids are for all listed travelers. You will only be able to bid on seat upgrades that all passengers on the reservation are eligible to be seated in. Please note that adjacent seat assignments are not guaranteed.

My travel partner and I are booked on different reservations. If one of our bids is accepted, can we both sit next to each other?

Each reservation is independent, and adjacent seat assignments are not guaranteed.
