Found in open prairies, deserts, mountains, and forests, coyotes are an omnivorous canine that can hunt animals as big as deer and as small as fish. Coyotes are native to North America and are known to resemble wolves, although coyotes are much smaller and are all have a greyish brown coloring with black-tipped tails. Coyotes are known to be present in human-populated areas, especially suburbs and rural communities, so keep an eye out when walking at dusk or dawn.
